This 'classic' dragon is a highly detailed appliqué design that quilters and fantasy enthusiasts will fall in love with.  Fabric selection and embellishments will create a very realistic 'beastie' as will extra padding and quilting to make him more dimensional.  Imaginative quilters will quickly see how reversing and rotating the dragon will allow them to create quite intricate scenes of two or more dragons that are each individuals.

In Chinese mythology there are five types of dragons: those guarding the gods and emperors, those controlling the wind and rain, Earthly dragons which deepen rivers, guardians of hidden treasures and of course, the First Dragon which appeared to a mythical emperor.  This dragon determined day and night as well as season and weather with it’s waking, sleeping and breathing.     Our Emperor Dragon is proud, fierce and oh, so detailed!  Quilters will be racing for their stash of hand dyed fabrics to create their own unique version of this wonderful ‘beastie’.  Hand dyed fabric from Batting A 1000 is used in the illustrations above, but our Emperor will work equally well in satins, velvets, metallic fabrics and cotton blends.  BOTH Borders shown in the settings are included in the design pack and CD.
