Bits and pieces about Guenivere, the last known wife of Arthur, have come to us.  Her colors were green and white however, the quilt block that bears her name will work in any color combination and in many settings.

In the Arthurian saga, there were three Ladies of the Lake. Viviane was the French Lady of the Lake, who raised and trained Lancelot. Ninueve is attributed with giving Arthur the sword Excalibur, and who was killed by Sir Balin. Nimue, a student of Merlin's, replaced Ninueve and eventually imprisoned Merlin in a rock in Cornwall. While for the most part considered good, the Ladies of the Lake were first and foremost pagan, and tried to stop the spread of Christianity, which put them at odds with Arthur from time to time.
